I have a gripe. In the news today is about this school teacher, a Miss LeFevre, 23 years old, who is facing a 25 year prison term if convicted of having relations with a 14 year-old boy in her class. I am a decent law-abiding Christian, and I realize that it is sinful and wrong for any adult to get together with anyone under these circumstances. However, the focus of the prosecution is that this boy "suffered some kind of damage"... Wow! If I had been de-virginized by by a 23-year-old blond teacher with a perfect body when I was 14, I can't see just what "damage" there would be! I'd be bragging, not prosecuting. Closest I got to a anything at that age was in print. Don't get me wrong though; I am basing this opinion on the theory that this kid is the typical 14 year-old who knows what's up. If he is immature and still a little boy, I agree with the prosecution and I take back all I say. But I don't think that is the case!

I've been looking for this story and can't find it anywhere. Used GOOOOOGLE with search parameters at first of simply "LeFevre" but got nothing. Then I was more specific with "LeFevre 23 years old 25 year prison 14 year-old boy" and STILL got nothing. Now THAT's not right, surely there should have been SOMETHING. It also strikes me this name looks manufactured, "Le Fever" for a purportedly hot blonde?? What's the source of this story, Phil Hendrie from KFI??

Former Teacher to Use Insanity Plea In Sex Case

When a young Hillsborough County teacher was accused this summer of having a sexual affair with a 14-year-old student, many people's first reaction to the notorious case was, 'She's crazy'. Tuesday, Debra Lafave's attorney announced that his client would indeed be using an insanity defense. She is charged with two counts of committing lewd and lascivious battery on a person younger than 16.

Police records state that Lafave, 23, performed oral sex on the victim and in a separate incident had sexual intercourse with the boy in a portable classroom at Greco.

Al Danna, a special agent with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, said that because the case involves a woman and a boy, it could make the case more difficult for prosecutors.

"If an older man has sex with a young girl, people call him a sicko and want him put away,'' he said. "Some people still believe if a young boy, especially a teenage boy, has sex with an older woman, it's a learning experience. It ultimately comes down to a jury, and, unfortunately, the double standard can make a difference".

According to prosecutor Mike Sinacore, the burden is on the defense to prove insanity by meeting two standards.

"The person suffered from mental illness at the time of the offense, and the second prong is to prove that either they did not know what they were doing, or that they did know what they were doing but did not know that it was wrong," he explained.

One factor the defense might use to invoke an insanity defense is the recent trauma Lafave's family has been through. Her pregnant sister was killed in a high-profile drunk driving accident three years ago, and Lafave was in court for that trial alongside the rest of her family, who also turned out for Tuesday's hearing.

Her soon-to-be former husband, Owen Lafave, was not there, however. Owen filed for divorce in August and has said previously that the case has been like "living a nightmare" for him.

OOps; spelling wrong. I had heard it on TV and guessed the spelling as Le Fevre based on how I've seen that name spelled before.

I'll tell anyone... The only "DAMAGE" that boy could suffer is if word gets out among his friends that he didn't have the time of his life! I never saw THESE pics of this girl until now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Lucky Son-of-a-gun that kid is!!!!!!!!!!!!

Put ME on that jury, and I will EXAMINE the evidence PERSONALLY for myself by having the judge order ME to experience what the kid did, and I will decide what kind of damage did or didn't happen... Dont' tell Nancy though, or there WILL be damage...
